DEPUTIES

ROAD TO REFORM • PRIORITY 02

THE PROBLEM
A Sheriff’s Office cannot be effective when too many sworn positions are consumed by avoidable administrative work or deployment does not match workload.

THE PLAN
• Review every sworn administrative assignment.
• Use call volume, response times, crime patterns, and geography to guide deployment.
• Civilianize appropriate non-enforcement functions where practical.
• Strengthen shift supervision and visible patrol presence.

WHAT CHANGES ON DAY ONE
Begin a staffing and deployment audit that compares every assignment to actual public-safety demand.

THE STANDARD
Deputies belong where the mission needs them most.

Increase visible patrol, improve deployment, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, and put resources where calls for service and crime data show they are needed most.
