Leadership & Accountability

ROAD TO REFORM • PRIORITY 05

THE PROBLEM
Standards lose meaning when discipline depends on rank, relationships, politics, or who is involved.

THE PLAN
• Establish consistent discipline and supervisory accountability.
• Strengthen Professional Standards and internal investigations.
• Require command-level performance reviews and documented expectations.
• Refer criminal, ethical, or certification concerns to outside authorities when appropriate.

WHAT CHANGES ON DAY ONE
Issue a leadership directive establishing one standard of conduct for every employee and every rank.

THE STANDARD
The higher the rank, the greater the responsibility.

One badge. One standard. Accountability applies from the newest employee to the Sheriff.
